PHILADELPHIA, PA – Sellers Dorsey Managing Director Gary Jessee will participate as a speaker on two panel discussions at the National Conferences on Medicare, Medicaid & Duals, presented by America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP). AHIP is a national association representing the health insurance industry whose members provide coverage and health‐related services for more than 200 million Americans. The organization advocates for public policies that expand access to affordable health care coverage to Americans. This annual event draws together industry experts, policymakers, academics, and thought leaders to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the nation’s health care system. The conferences will take place in Washington, D.C. from September 24th to 28th and provide an opportunity for substantive and timely discussions on policy, health plan operations, state issues, and public programs.

Gary Jessee is a nationally recognized public healthcare expert with over 20 years of public service experience. He is Managing Director at Sellers Dorsey, a national Medicaid policy and financing consultancy, where he works with the federal government, states, stakeholders, and private sector clients on Medicaid transformation and reform. Until July 2017, he served as Deputy Executive Commissioner for Medical and Social Services at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and was responsible for overseeing a vast division comprised of client services, including eligibility services and Medicaid/CHIP services and functions, and community programs. Mr. Jessee also previously served as the Texas Medicaid Director and led a team overseeing acute care, dental services, and long-term services and supports delivered across the state through managed care and fee-for-service delivery systems.

Participating as a panelist in this year’s AHIP National Conferences on Medicare, Medicaid & Duals, Gary Jessee will speak at two sessions on September 26th and 27th:

  • Where States Are Heading for Integration (National Conference on Duals)
  • Managed Foster Care for Children and Youth: A Roadmap for Success (National Conference on Medicaid)

Gary has extensive first-hand experience working with a variety of stakeholders on issues related to Medicare-Medicaid integration and youth in foster care, in addition to his current work advising public and private entities about public health financing and policy. He is a frequent speaker at national and regional conferences and other events.
