Sellers Dorsey is proud to welcome Martha Wigton to the firm as Director of the firm’s Georgia practice. Ms. Wigton brings with her 32 years of executive legislative experience, including serving two lieutenant governors and four House speakers during her career in state government. As Director of the state of Georgia’s House Budget and Research Office since 2011, Ms. Wigton oversaw the professional staff for the House of Representatives’ 42 standing committees.
“As a longtime government leader with more than three decades in public service, Ms. Wigton’s extensive knowledge of Georgia and its healthcare needs will be an invaluable asset to the firm,” said Sellers Dorsey Managing Director Tanya Boone. “It is a privilege to have her lead Sellers Dorsey’s Georgia practice.”
Prior to her appointment as Director, Ms. Wigton served as Deputy Director in Georgia’s House Budget and Research Office after serving as the Senior Policy Director to the Speaker of the House. From 1998 to 2003, Ms. Wigton served as Director of the Senate Research Office with oversight over the research, analysis, and preparation of policy and budget information to members of the Georgia State Senate. She has also served in multiple roles in the Lt. Governor’s Office, including Chief of Staff and Executive Assistant for Policy and Budget. In her role as Director, she led the successful merger of the budget and research offices into a cohesive resource for legislators and the public.

Ms. Wigton holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University and completed her post- baccalaureate work in Education at the University of North Florida. In 2019, Martha was elected by her peers to serve as the Staff Chair for the National Conference of State Legislatures. In 2016, Martha received the National Association of Legislative Fiscal Offices’ Legislative Staff Achievement Award and became a Council of State Governments’ Henry Toll Fellow.
