Sellers Dorsey Managing Director, Tanya Boone, and Phoebe Putney Health System CFO, Brian Church, will speak at AEH VITAL 2023 about Medicaid financing and the healthcare workforce shortage. The 30-minute session, “Leveraging Medicaid Financing to Address Healthcare Workforce Shortages” will take place on June 14 at 4:45pm CDT at the conference’s location in Chicago.

About the Session:
Long-standing health care workforce shortages, exacerbated by the recent pandemic and increasing labor costs, threaten Medicaid beneficiaries’ access to critical health care services. Tanya and Brian will share their insights and highlight opportunities for essential hospitals to design and implement Medicaid financing initiatives to fund workforce investments. The speakers will discuss one of Sellers Dorsey’s ongoing projects, GA-STRONG, a recently-approved hospital directed payment program that supports increased Medicaid funding for 21 teaching hospital participants across Georgia.

The GA-STRONG program is built upon the premise that a strong healthcare workforce is foundational to ensuring access to high-quality care. The program supports the stabilization, development, and diversification of Georgia’s current and future healthcare workforce. Attendees can expect to gain an understanding of new solutions for healthcare workforce shortages from leaders who helped develop and implement them.
