Sellers Dorsey is proud to have dedicated two decades of work to the Medicaid population. Across the country, Medicaid programs serve low-income individuals and families, including children and adults with disabilities, in some cases regardless of their income. Sellers Dorsey’s Medicaid work is intricately linked to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the populations it is meant to protect.

On July 26, 1990, President George H.W. Bush signed the ADA into law, codifying that all individuals, regardless of ability, are entitled to the same access to employment, public spaces and services, and telecommunications. States have followed suit by creating programs and expanding access to community-based care with the goal of allowing people with disabilities the opportunity to be included in communities from which they have been long excluded.

As state Medicaid agencies, providers, and health plan clients continue to explore innovative ways to deliver care, we celebrate the populations they serve and the protections enumerated for them under the ADA. At the same time, we recognize that people with disabilities continue to experience discrimination, accessibility barriers, and have unmet needs with the care provided under various state programs. Therefore, as we continue our work with current clients and build relationships with new ones, we commit to keeping populations with disabilities top of mind and advocate for Medicaid program innovations that ensure all people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else.

At Sellers Dorsey, we believe diversity is our strength. We condemn any forms of inequality, including discrimination based on disability, race, religion, level of ability, sexual orientation, gender identity, and socio-economic status.
