State Health Access Grants
A new federal grant opportunity for States to advance access to health care was recently enacted in the federal 2009 Omnibus Appropriations Bill. State Health Access grants will provide $75 million annually for states to improve health care coverage through a range of options for targeted populations to more comprehensive reforms. Policy expert, Pris Boroniec, Sellers Dorsey's Director of Health Care Reform, recently reviewed the new opportunity and created a summary with important information and facts about the grants.

Pat Brady Transforming Nursing Homes Presentation at the Aging in America Conference
Sellers Dorsey Director of Long Term Care, Pat Brady, recently teamed up with JoAnn Lamphere, AARP's Director of State Government Relations for their Health and Long Term Care Team, as well as Lee Goldberg, the Long Term Care Policy Director for SEIU for a presentation at the Aging in America Conference on March 17, 2009. Their presentation, "Transforming Nursing Homes", highlighted the various viewpoints of making a real change in the Nursing Home Industry.

Neonatal Care Client Highlight: ProgenyHealth
CNN recently published an article analyzing the costs for premature newborn medical care. According to a new report by the March of Dimes Foundation, the medical costs for a premature or low birth-weight baby during the first year of life average $49,000. In contrast, a healthy newborn costs average $4,551 for the first year of life. Twelve percent of all births in the United States are premature, raising questions of how best to provide preventive care, improve the quality of care and contain costs.
