Governor Gregoire Expands Health Insurance
and Reduces Healthcare Costs

A message from Martin Sellers, CEO

On May 2nd, Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire signed into law a bill aimed at expanding health insurance coverage and reducing healthcare costs. For being a champion of the health interests of the citizens of Washington, and for taking this important step in accomplishing comprehensive reform - Governor Gregoire we congratulate you.

The governor's reform measure, based on recommendations made by the Blue Ribbon Commission on Health Care Costs and Access, will give more state residents improved access to quality healthcare - and offer new and better ways of providing and paying for it. Sellers Feinberg is privileged to have been able to serve as consultants to the Commission in the development of its recommendations for a sustainable five-year plan.

Because of the commitment and excellent work done by the Governor and the state legislature, the State of Washington now joins the ranks of a select few at the leading edge of state-based solutions to the nation's healthcare situation.

With such resourcefulness and creativity, the Governor moves toward fashioning a state-based approach that can serve as an effective national model for covering the uninsured and improving the quality and efficiency of America's healthcare system.

We at Sellers Feinberg are committed to working with states and the federal government to dramatically reduce our nation's number of uninsured and again express our appreciation to the Governor for including us in the process.
