Jim recently joined Sellers Dorsey as part of our long term care team. Jim has over 35 years of experience working for Pennsylvania's Department of Public Welfare. The majority of those years were spent working in long term care as both the Director of the Bureau of Community Development and the Director of the Division of Long Term Care Client Services. In these roles, Jim was tasked with reducing the reliance on institutional care as the primary means to care for frail children and adults by increasing the availability of community based programs for consumers who otherwise need institutional care. This additionally controlled the growth of facility based services within the Commonwealth.
As part of his efforts to re-balancing the long term care system, Jim worked with the nursing facility industry to develop financial strategies to meet future challenges and demands for more community based and consumer directed services. Jim is noted for creating new service models and financing plans that increase home and community based options and leverage housing resources, increasing availability and accessibility for both older persons and persons with disabilities.
