A Review of Access to Services, Quality of Care, and Cost Effectiveness.

Texas Association of Health Plans Released a Report featuring studies conducted by health care research firms Sellers Dorsey and Millman. The TAHP study identifies $3.8 billion of savings in six years.

The projections also indicate that over the next 3 years the Medicaid managed care model is expected to save another $3.3 billion compared to the fee-for-service model it replaced. Managed care has revolutionized the delivery of Medicaid healthcare services in Texas, over the last 20 years managed care has improved access, reduced costs, and improved quality of care. Membership in Medicaid managed care has also increased from 58,000 members to over 3 million members.
