Managed LTSS Procurement Support for Managed Care Organizations

Background

A group of managed care organizations (MCOs) needed assistance through several phases of a state’s procurement. The state was implementing a new managed program for children with special health care needs including those receiving long-term services and supports (LTSS)   These MCOs had with little experience in MLTSS and  required help on multiple fronts, from RFP response support to readiness review.

The Collaboration

Given our team’s extensive experience with LTSS programs, Sellers Dorsey effectively supported the MCOs through all steps of procurement and readiness preparations..  We  collaborated precisely on RFP responses, performed gap analysis and remediation, and walked the MCOs through detailed readiness review.  Our subject matter experts worked onsite with the MCO staff providing training and assisted to develop operational policies and procedures

The Results

With the help of our collaborative preparation, every MCO passed the state’s readiness review.  Under our comprehensive approach, which included a mock operations and systems review, each plan  could identify where they needed to improve capabilities to meet the state’s goals for successfully serving these children with special health care needs.
